The series of the Sun Birthers were born from a comment my mother used to make about how blessed she felt to have had "three suns" (referring to me and my two sisters). The figures in these drawing can be seen as birthing three separate suns or one sun which moves on upwards. The figures often combine gestural acrylic washes with fine line drawing details. They fluctuate between the exaggerated contortions of the mother and with the meditative repetitions of the delicate landscapes.
